Episode 1 (air date: 17 June 2017): The Croquette of Happiness
To be honest, I watched this drama last year and subbed the first 100 lines of episode 1 but I was then distracted by other dramas and forgot about this… until now. Better late than never?
Suzuki Ryohei plays the protagonist, Miyazawa Kenji, a well-known Japanese poet and author of children literature. He is most famously known for works like “Night on the Galactic Railroad”, a fantasy novel, and short poems like “Be not Defeated by the Rain”. I actually bought a short collection of his stories a long time ago for some light reading and felt that it was interesting and original. This drama is a chronicle of his life in the early 1920s. The first episode basically set up the story and introduced the main characters to us. In the next episode, we will see his first day as a teacher…
