I watched 4 seasons of the American series and enjoyed it. (I didn’t finish Season 5 though as the scriptwriters killed off a certain character and it became too painful to continue watching.) When a Japanese remake was announced, I was excited to see how it would be like.
The first episode didn’t disappoint. Of course, there are some aspects which have been changed from the original– like Madoka (Kalinda’s character) was changed from an investigator to a paralegal, and Tada and Asahi (Will and Cary’s characters) seemed overly friendly with each other– but overall, it was enjoyable. I went back to re-watch this particular episode from the original and thought that the Japanese remake added courtroom scenes and focused more on the client’s feelings, both which I appreciated.
The next episode looks like it will be a remake of the episode on Jonas Stern’s DUI case. Let’s see how the Japanese version will develop…
P. S. I’m still not very used to Japanese legal terms so if you have feedback on improving my translations, please tell me. 🙂
Thank you very much for subbing episode 1. It’s nice to see Tokiwa Takako back in a drama again. 🙂
